3000, Ravensburger, Collage from Old Timers

Ravensburger manufactured this interesting puzzle in 1986. The title is Collage from Old Timers. It is a collage with photographs of some beautiful classic cars. Car enthusiasts refer to these old cars as Old Timers. The name is very appropriate, since the cars in the puzzle belong to the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s.

In June of 1979 there was a car exhibition at the fair of Düsseldorf, Germany. The rarest and nicest cars of the 30’s and 40’s were shown in Europe for the first time. Those cars belonged to the Harrah‘s Automobile Collection, which some years later would become the National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada. The car show was organized by the tobacco manufacturing company Roth-Händle, which published a catalog with the title Roth-Händle Raritäten, Die Autoshow des Jahres. The author of the text was Jürgen Lewandonwski and the photographer was Peter Forster.

This style of puzzle with a collage of photographs is not very common, although there are some similar examples. Some puzzles consist of several images forming a composition, like the 1500 Schmidt puzzle Velvet Paws, with images of cats. However, the most similar example is probably the 5000 Jumbo puzzle Happy Faces. Most puzzle fans are familiar with that collage of faces, even when the puzzle doesn’t appear very often now.

The puzzle is like NEW, with all the pieces inside the original SEALED plastic bag. The box is in excellent condition.
