Description

This is an extraordinary puzzle by Schmidt. The title on the box is The Battle of Trafalgar, by Auguste Étienne François Mayer. The real title of the artwork is unknown. However, the two titles under which it is usually identified are Combat Glorieux du Vaisseau le Bucentaure contre trois Vaisseaux Anglais and Scene of the Battle of Trafalgar. The picture is one of six that Mayer painted in 1836 about the struggle and fights of ship of the line Bucentaure during the Battle of Trafalgar. You can admire the original painting at the Musée National de la Marine, in Paris.

The puzzle is COMPLETE (4000 pieces). The pieces are in excellent condition. The box is in good condition, although it has some wear, three tears in corners that were fixed with tape, and a couple of tape tears.

There are several puzzles with paintings of this famous naval battle. Falcon manufactured an interesting 1000 piece version of the painting by Thomas Whitcombe.
