Description

Ravensburger manufactured this rare puzzle in 1969, as part of their Discovery & Invention series. The title is De Arend, Amsterdam, 1839, by the Dutch graphic illustrator Kees Kelfkens. The illustration commemorates the opening of the first railway line in the Netherlands, when the locomotive De Arend pulled the first train to link Amsterdam to Haarlem.

The puzzle is COMPLETE, as you can see in the photograph of the puzzle assembled. The pieces are in excellent condition. The box is in very good condition, with minor scuffs and shelf wear.

Interestingly, Ravensburger wrote ca. 350 pieces on the box, although the actual number is 360 pieces. That means this puzzle must have been one of the first puzzles in the series, since other puzzles indicate 360 pieces, which is the exact number. We can verify it with Montgolfier, Paris, 1783, and Johannes Guttenberg, 1455.
