Description

This is a very rare puzzle by Orli. The title is The Money Changer and his Wife, by Quentin Matsys. You can admire the original painting at the Louvre Museum.

The puzzle is INCOMPLETE (999 pieces; 1 piece missing). The pieces are in excellent condition. The box is in good condition, with some shelf wear and a couple of tears on two corners of the base.

This painting belonged to Cornelis van der Geest, who supported several artists and had a great art collection. His art gallery is depicted in several paintings, like The Gallery of Cornelis van der Geest, by Willem van Haecht. In the painting Alexander the Great visiting the Studio of Apelles, also by Willem van Haecht, you can see The Money Changer and his Wife on the lower right corner.

There is another important version of this theme by Marinus Claeszoon van Reymerswaele.
