Description

Ravensburger manufactured this puzzle in 1978. The title in the box is Naval Battle, by Pierre-Julien Gilbert. The complete French title of the painting is Combat des Fregates “La Junon” et “La Gentille” contre le Vaisseau Anglais “L’Ardent“, 17 Aout 1779. You can admire the original painting at the Hôtel de Préfecture des Yvelines, in Versailles.

The puzzle is COMPLETE (1008 pieces). The pieces are in excellent condition. The box is in good condition, with some shelf wear, and a tear fixed with tape.

Ravensburger has published a lot of puzzles with paintings of naval battles. In 1981 they published  a 1000 piece version of Flagships in Battle, by Auguste Étienne François Mayer.
