This is a very rare puzzle by Bogi Design. The title on the box is Winter Life, and the name of the artist on the box is Pieter Brueghel. We don’t think the artist was Pieter Bruegel the Elder, since this painting doesn’t appear on the website that lists all his works. Since Pieter Brueghel the Younger copied most of his father’s works, we don’t think he was the author either.
Falcon published a similar 5000 piece puzzle of Village in Winter, by Jan Brueguel the Elder and Joos the Momper, and Ravensburger published a 2000 piece puzzzle version of the same painting. However, when looking closely at the details, you can see that our puzzle is in fact a different version. We think that the real title is Winter Landscape, attributed to Jan Brueghel the Younger, with its original artwork stored at the Museo del Prado, in Madrid. Ravensburger published a 1000 piece puzzle version of this same painting in 1982. Although the Bogi Design edition looks much darker, all the details are exactly the same, so the differences in tones are probably due to the printing process.
The puzzle is NEW, in its original FACTORY SEAL. There are major tears in the seal on one side of the box that are fixed with tape, as you can see in the photographs.
