Description

This is a very interesting puzzle by Dujardin, although the name of on the box still appears as Éditions Edmond Dujardin Arcachon. The title is Luncheon on the Grass, by Édouard Manet, and it is part of their Art Moderne series.

We think that this puzzle was actually manufactured by Schmidt, since they produced puzzles with the same box design around those same years (even the formats of the reference numbers are the same). Some examples are Forest Exit, Carousel Game, or The Fish Market. Edmond Dujardin created the company in 1947 as an editor of materials for driving schools in Arcachon, France. For that reason, the transition to publishing games and puzzles was surely not immediate. They had to partner initially with other companies. Something similar must have happened with Nathan, which manufactured a lot of their puzzles in Spain, probably at the Educa factory.

This puzzle is not for sale and it only appears for documentation purposes.

Another puzzle in the same series is the 1500 piece version of The Paddock at Deauville, by Raoul Dufy.
