Description

This is a beautiful puzzle by Falcon. The title is Allegory of Sight, by Jan van Kessel. According to the information on the box, the painting is also known as Interior of a Collector’s Cabinet. This puzzle is very difficult to find.

Jan van Kessel was the grandson of Jan Brueghel the Elder, and this painting is an almost identical copy of his grandfather’s masterpiece. However, when looking for information, it seems there is a painting with the same title by Jan van Kessel, but it is a completely different painting.

Since there are other copies of this painting by painters and students of Jan Brueghel the Elder or Jan Brueghel the Younger, I would say that the information on the box is wrong and the author was an artist from one of the painters’ studios.

This puzzle is like NEW, with all the pieces SEALED inside the original plastic bag. The box is in good condition, but it has some wear and creases, and a stain on the rear, as you can see in the photographs.

There are not many puzzles with paintings by Jan van Kessel. In fact, the only one we know of is the 2000 piece edition by Central Hobby of The Continent of Europe.
