Ravensburger manufactured this extraordinary puzzle in 1979. The title is Frigates in Battle, by Pieter Cornelis van Soest. It has been out of catalog for a long time and it is now very difficult to find.

The puzzle is NEW, with its original FACTORY SEAL. There is a tear on a side on the box as you can see in the photograph.

Ravensburger has published a lot of puzzles with paintings of naval battles. An example is the 1000 piece version of Naval Battle, by Pierre-Julien Gilbert.
