5146, Yanoman, The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō

This is a Japanese gem by Yanoman. It is extremely rare and very difficult to find, so it is very exceptional to find one available outside of Japan. The title is The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō, by Utagawa Hiroshige. It is a series of ukiyo-e created by Utagawa Hiroshige after his first travel along the Tōkaidō in 1832.

Ukiyo-e translates as “picture of the floating word”. It is a genre of Japanese art which flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of such subjects as female beauties; kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers; scenes from history and folk tales; travel scenes and landscapes; flora and fauna; and erotica.

The puzzle is like NEW, with all the pieces SEALED inside the original plastic bag. The box is in very good condition, although it has some transparent tape in two of the corners of the lid.
